Acts 9:39 was born out of the personal experience with our oldest daughter's breast cancer. A friend had made a post mastectomy camisole for her. I had no clue what was involved in taking care of a post mastectomy patient. Their arm movements are greatly limited, they have to have these drains for 10-14 days that consist of tubes and bottles to collect fluids. These are then carefully measured everyday at the same time. These ladies have these hooked up to them for 24/7 until the doctor removes them. Well what do you do with all of this stuff?
This carefully designed camisole has pockets on the inside at the bottom and the top to put your drain bottles in and or little ice bags in the top pockets. It has velcro shoulder straps and velcro on the front This makes it easy on and off. These ladies can not just move their arms around to put on a garment like you and I do. The designer put a lot of careful thought into this garment. It made life so much easier for both my daughter and myself as the healing process started.
Upon returning home I couldn't stop thinking about this. Her nurses had never seen anything like this. I saw the advantages to this top. I felt the Lord nudging me to take my sewing skills and put them to good work. Long story short, I'm giving camisoles to our local hospital for breast cancer patients. My 91 year old mother cuts them out for me and I sew and deliver them. Other people have come alongside me to help me financially get this started. I do not charge for the tops.
